Child Support Analysis

Advice & debate & FAQs

When you are dealing with the CSA, you may need help. You don't have to end it all or emigrate - there is help or someone to talk to, somewhere.
Feeling suicidal or despairing?
The Samaritans is a registered charity based in the UK and Republic of Ireland that provides confidential emotional support to any person who is suicidal or despairing; and that increases public awareness of issues around suicide and depression.

If you need to speak to a Samaritan call: 08457 90 90 90 in the United Kingdom, or 1850 60 90 90 in the Republic of Ireland.

If the feeling of despair is caused by loss of access with your children, or by the financial or administrative impact of the CSA, then the organisations below, especially FNF & NACSA, have experience in and support for these problems.
Lobby & support groups - Child Support

The most important lobby / activist group specifically about the CSA is NACSA (National Association for Child Support Action):
"The National Association for Child Support Action (NACSA) exists to campaign for fair child support without the child support act and to help parents deal with the CSA."

NACSA run a number of forums concerned with obtaining advice and many other things, for members on their web site. NACSA Groups hold regular help-meetings in various parts of the country. To contact an advisor in confidence call between 10-4pm Mon-Fri and 10-1pm Sat on: 0870 240 3343.

CANCSA is an Independent Voluntary Group giving Free Advice. They have advice groups in various parts of England. This is only a summary: see the CANCSA web site.

Lobby & support groups - Families, Parents, Children

FNF (Families Need Fathers) is a charity which promotes Shared Parenting:
"FNF: Keeping Children and Parents in Contact since 1974".

FNF also frequently makes its views known about the CSA, although that is not its prime focus. They have presented evidence to the Social Security Select Committee about the reform of the CSA. (I helped them prepare & present their case).

(I've worked with these people - they are lots of fun).
